The King George Learning Center was established to help parents support their children locally.

The aftermath of pandemic learning left many children struggling to keep up with the fast-paced curriculum of an overburdened national school system short on funds and resources. The post pandemic return to brick-and-mortar schools also had a negative impact upon the mental health of students who had spent nine or more months in quarantine and were then thrust back into the traditional school setting of crowded halls, rigid social structures, academic pressures and behaviors instigated by prolonged isolation.

The services offered at KGLC address both factors. We provide academic tutoring for all grades and subjects and the program for homeschool students 11-18 years who are in need of a flexible alternative learning environment.

Meet Terri Bard

My name is Terri Bard and I am the founder of the King George Learning Center. I have eight years of experience teaching in the public school system and over fifteen years as a private, academic tutor. I have been a resident of KG County for over seventeen years and all of my children have attended KGCS schools.

The creation of the King George Learning Center evolved through my experiences as a classroom teacher and a parent. I witnessed many students in need of extra support yet not enough school resources available to provide for everyone. I also know the fear and uncertainty  of parenting a child who  was unable to be successful in the public school system. I realized that many families face these struggles and need support in our own community.

Meet Butters

Butters is the beloved lionhead rabbit that lives at KGLC. She often helps students feel comfortable and looking forward to coming back. She is very inquisitive and can get herself into some precarious situations.  Rabbits are prey animals so she must be approached slowly and in her line of vision so as not to scare her and she must never be picked up.
