Our assisted homeschool program offers a flexible, supportive environment where homeschool students can thrive both academically and socially. Designed for families seeking partnership and structure without compromising autonomy, this program blends hands-on learning, creative exploration, and personalized academic support.

Learning That Grows With You

At KGLC, we believe every child learns best when their individuality is honored and their voice is heard. Through personalized tutoring and our flexible, assisted homeschool program, we partner closely with parents and students to create empowering, student-centered pathways to growth. Our mission is to nurture autonomy, spark curiosity, and support each learner’s unique journey with compassion, creativity and care.

Education should be a partnership between parent, student, and educator.

FAQ

  • Yes, we have students from the surrounding areas, such as, Colonial Beach, Westmoreland, Essex and Caroline counties.

  • We support any gap that is present regardless of age or content using a network of qualified professionals. If we are unable to accommodate you, we will refer you to another specialist.

  • There is a wide array of homeschool curriculums available. Many are accredited and academically rigorous. Homeschooled students typically score 15-25% higher on standardized tests than their public school counterparts.

  • Yes! Many colleges and universities have specialized admissions for students without a high school diploma. They value these students knowing that independent schooling often produces critical thinkers with desired skills like perseverance, self-motivation and adaptability.

  • Very often there is a period of “deschooling” that occurs when the student is learning a different set of expectations. No longer having to ask permission to use the bathroom or move about can take some time for the student to get used to. It can also take time to process the changes and the feelings associated.  It is hard to step back from the sense of competition and learned urgency of race and reward that traditional school values. In time, most students make that transition and begin to take ownership of their learning.

  • Can my student attend if he/she is having behavior issues in public school?

A: A child’s behavior in one setting is not an indicator of their behavior in a different setting. Removing stressors found in a traditional school environment is often enough to create a new mindset. A two-week (paid) trial basis can usually determine if the student and program are compatible.

KIND WORDS

“ We feel so very lucky to have found Ms. Bard! "

Her understanding of the school curriculum in KG and how to give the extra support to help students succeed is just what we needed to help our son. She is in communication with us every step of the way and applies specific tutoring for areas needed. I'd absolutely recommend her!”
